What (was!) on – 2019

We would love to welcome you to gorgeous Wensleydale and take you back in time to the 1940’s!

Not only will you have a great weekend with lots to see and do with dancing, music, stalls, vintage vehicles there will be time for a train ride up further into the Dales to Redmire to enjoy the amazing scenery .

Get In The Swing

The event is now in its 12th year and Leyburn buzzes all weekend long – come and see the great stalls selling vintage fashions , have your hair done for the occasion , learn to Lindy Hop with Tom from the Swing Cats who will be giving Lindy-Hop and Charleston Swing Dance Classes over the weekend (details of times and venue to follow) or watch the Swing Cats demonstrations to great music and entertainment provided by Major Swing who we are very happy to welcome back to Leyburn.

Thornborough Hall

Thornborough Hall will be the site for our Vintage Tea Party – come along and see the re-enactors , have a cuppa and a cake and a dance and then stroll around the gorgeous oak room where there will be some wonderful arts and crafts stalls.

Parking

Parking is available in the 1940s car parks at Tennants Field on the A 684 and the Auction Mart on the A6108. The cost of parking will be £5 per vehicle and everyone who pays for parking will receive a wristband giving them free access to the park and ride provided over the weekend by The Wensleydale Omnibus. Those who do not require car parking can still take advantage of travelling around on this lovely old double decker bus for a charge of £2.

The vintage shuttle bus service is operating between both car parks, the Railway Station and the market place. Thornborough Hall is only a short walk from the market place.

Singing All The Way…

Jayne Darling will be joining us (we love her!) , Colin our fantastic George Formby for the weekend, Hartlepool Ukelele Band , Major Swing and many more ! Special mention must go to Leyburn LADS who will be performing ‘Mimi Saves The Day’ in the garden of The Dalesman Club.

Wensleydale Railway will have activities going on within Leyburn Station and there will be an evacuee train running again – kids activities and an artefact showcase is being planned so there is lots going on for all the family.

Dance The Night Away

There is a Dinner Dance on Friday 19th July at The Bolton Arms, Leyburn and tickets are selling fast ! Major Swing will be your hosts for the evening so you are guaranteed great music and great dancing so what are you waiting for ? get your glad rags on and come and join us!

Major Swing will be with us all weekend making sure there is great music and entertainment within the market place throughout the day and then on Saturday evening they will be hosting a dance in The Wensleydale School . This is a great venue – bring along your supper and drinks – the hall will be decorated and you can dance the night away.

Need somewhere to stay?

Why not take advantage of the great camping rates available at The Wensleydale Rugby Club? £10 per pitch or pay by bacs and pay £8 per night.
