Wartime Experience Train - 2019

Wartime Experience Train – 2019

The Wensleydale Railway will be running their Wartime Experience Train on Saturday 20th July

Guests will join the train at Leeming Bar Station where it will depart at 9.45am and journey up to the Yorkshire Dales. The train will then return to Leyburn where guests can depart and enjoy the 1940s Festival in Leyburn centre. The journey will take approx. 90mins.

Once on-board there will be an assortment of activities for everyone, such as have a go at knitting, test your wartime knowledge and have a look at our handling collection which includes a gas mask. You will also have the opportunity to try some ration recipes, take a look at wartime fashion and there will be grab bag activity packs for children.

And that’s not all we will also have a range of characters on board to bring the wartime experience alive as well as a lady who was an evacuee that can talk to guests about what it was like to be evacuated from Newcastle to the countryside during WWII. Also we will be making a stop along the way to pick up a special guest, the talented Jayne Darling, for a jolly 1940s sing along!

There are only 60 seats available on the train – so book early on The Wensleydale Railway Website using the button below:
