The 75th anniversary of the cessation of hostilities with Japan in Southeast Asia and the Far East can be celebrated on Sunday, the 16th of August 2020 in the wide open spaces of the Yorkshire air museum at Elvington are you up for the celebration?

Terry and Rob will be the organisers and the crowd, socially distanced of course.

All of our 40s weekends have been cancelled and here is an opportunity to bring vehicles and the uniformed bodies or our 40s garb to a great day of celebration. The best parties are the spontaneous parties. How is your spontaneity?

The tentative timings are 10 am to 4 pm and if you could let us know you’re attending and what you’re bringing as soon as possible then we can get the venue organised to everyone’s advantage.

Please don’t let this opportunity pass to acknowledge the hundreds of thousands who fought The Japanese across Southeast Asia and those who flew particularly the Dakota and supplied them with sustenance and those who kept the airways clear.

The Chindits, the Rajputs, the Punjabis, the west and east Africans along with the Leicecster’s,Yorkshire’s, Norfolk’s, West Kent’s, Queens and kings regiments, Camerons and of course the Gurkhas should all have representation along with the American, Canadian, and Australian forces that made it all possible. It is worth noting that Sir Tom Moore (100) was in the army unit that retook Akyab and Ramree islands.

Come and join us, we’d love to see you. Let’s show them how an impromptu day out can really be put on – a VJ day out. A 1940’s day out. Socially distanced of course.

Sincerely yours

Terry and Rob
