Over the years the event has not only been great fun – it’s also been tremendously educational and an important reminder that we should try never to forget, the few that did so much for so many!
This very popular event (now in its 11th year) in Leyburn’s Events and Festival calendar continues to grow and 2018 looks to be even better than previous years.
Over the weekend Leyburn will turn back the clock to the 1940s. In the Market Place, Thornborough Hall and throughout the town there will be a host of entertainment for you to take part in and enjoy.
The shops too dress their windows with memorabilia and fully enter into the spirit
of the event.
The Market Place in the centre of town becomes an arena for all things 1940s with:
- Music,singing and dancing
- Stalls selling an array of goods
- All manner of vehicles including military vehicles, farm machinery,
buses, vintage cars.
The Dances (yes, there are two) are always popular – so get your tickets as soon as you can. See here.
A Vintage Fair in Thornborough Hall where you will find all manner of vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery. You can also see a number of demonstrations by re-enactment groups, or simply sit back and enjoy the atmosphere in the gardens with 1940s music and dancing.
There’s a Vintage Shuttle Bus service around the town
Come and enjoy the weekend as yourself, in allied forces uniform or the fabulous 40’s fashions.
There will be two car parks – one in the overflow car park at Tennants on the A684 and one at the Auction Mart. The cost of car parking will be £5.00 per vehicle. Everyone who pays for parking will get a wristband and be able to use the shuttle buses for free.
Those that don’t use our car parks can still use the shuttle buses but will need to pay £2.00. The Vintage Shuttle bus service operating between both car parks, the Railway Station, the Market Place and Thronborough Hall.
