Over the years many of the visitors to the event have made use of the camping facilities at Wensleydale RUFC. The Rugby Club is a short walk from the centre of Leyburn and affords some of the finest views any rugby club has to offer anywhere in the country.
The club’s history goes back almost 50 years – having been founded back in 1968 – with the clubhouse and associates facilities dating back to a 1993 rebuild following a fire. So this year they embarked on an an ambitious scheme to completely rebuild the clubs infrastructure. On offer will be floodlight playing areas, redeveloped function room, larger kitchen and bar area, new toilets, new and improved changing rooms.
To the disappointment of many 1940s Weekend visitors the current work put camping at the club under threat – as the new toilets wouldn’t be completed in time for this years event.
Well, the good news is that work has progressed well and we’ve been able to install a mobile/temporary toilet block for those people who’ve been unable to make alternative arrangements or who wish to be closer to town.
To help us ensure that these facilities are sufficient for the numbers planning attend we’d be grateful if you could download the application form and send it back to us ASAP – with less than 3 weeks to go there’s no time to waste!!
