This popular event in Leyburn's Events and Festival calendar continues to grow & 2014 looks to be even better than previous years:
The Market Place in the centre of town becomes an arena for all things 1940s - with music, singing, dancing, stalls and all manner of vehicles: including military vehicles, farm machinery, buses, vintage cars, steam traction engines and even a full size replica Spitfire!
There's a full program of entertainment over the weekend with - new for 2014 - a Vintage Fair in Thornborough Hall where you'll find all manner of vintage clothing, accessories and jewellry. You can also see a number of demonstrations by re-enactment groups, or simply sit back and enjoy the atmosphere in the 1940s Pop Up Tea Room.....
Leyburn 1940s Weekend is a Community Event and owes thanks to the many volunteers who make it possible.
In particular, this web site owes thanks to following photographers who have freely donated their images: Mike Hodgson "53 Degrees North Pics", Nige Smaller "Nige Smaller" , Robin Attrill "BitchinRob",Donna Attrill "Bitchin Donna", g imaging2011 "Mike Grierson", *sarah*, Mike Phillipson and, lastly, particular thanks to Emma Amsden who's photography has inspired much of this revised web site.
